Does God need for us to be grateful? The answer is no. Gratitude is for our benefit. This lifetime is difficult and the best way to get through a difficult time is by being grateful for the good things in your life. Without the Holy Spirit leading us our natural tendency is to complain about our troubles. Overcoming this natural tendency takes prompting from the Holy Spirit and effort by us. Then being grateful puts us in the right frame of mind to be led by the Holy Spirit through our trouble and get to the other side where the problem is solved and we have learned from the whole experience. If we ignore the Holy Spirit and develop an ungrateful mindset, we will stay stuck in the problem, stop making progress and become quite miserable. It is so much better to maintain an attitude of gratitude and be able to learn and grow through whatever life throws at us
